STX O&S Wins LR1 Tankers Order

STX O&S continues its leap forward with contract for four LR1 Tankers following the previous LR1 Tanker and the LNG Bunkering Vessel. On December 11, STX O&S signed the contract with BW Pacific Limited, a Singapore Shipping Company, for four LR1 Tankers of 74,000DWT along with additional options.


According to STX O&S, the contracted vessels are scheduled to sequentially sail away from second half of 2016, and contract price and quantity of options will not be revealed as was requested by the ship owner. Contracted vessels will be designed to be an eco-friendly; high efficiency vessel enabling reduced fuel consumption and minimizes exhaust gas emission.

STX O&S has previously been awarded contracts for seven vessels (four option vessels) including LR1 tanker, LNG Bunkering shuttle leading to impressive output of winning total contract award of 11 vessels in a single month of December 2014. Since separated from STX group last year, STX O&S has established a solid position in the market as ‘Medium Range Tanker Production Specialist’.


STX O&S has recently won numerous contract for LR1 Tanker (60,000~80,000DWT), taking a 17 % market share (Clarkson statistics) of the 367 LR1 Tankers contracted after 2000 and maintained the leader position in the world market.
